This was our morning discussion today. All of the ideas are from the students, they know what it means to put in the effort at school!
What effort does NOT look like in the classroom:
Head down
Playing with “stuff”
Sitting, looking at your paper, not doing anything,
Not participating
Daydreaming
Staring out the window
Putting yourself down
Giving up
Talking to your neighbor
Not listening
Tipping in your chair
Negative talk
Not staying focused on school work
Raising your hand when you don’t have an answer
Peanut gallery
*Not using common sense
What DOES effort look like:
Paying attention and focusing on teacher or student talking/sharing
Not giving up
Doing your work when assigned with the time given
Putting faith in yourself that you can complete your work (on time!)
*Pushing yourself towards your goals
Following classroom rules
Having a positive attitude
“Home Court!”
Self control
When someone’s still working, you can cheer them on!
Keep those pencil’s movin’ non-stop!
